Wandsworth News covers the London borough of Wandsworth: Battersea and Nine Elms, Clapham Junction, Putney and Roehampton, Southfields, Earlsfield, Wandsworth Town, Balham and Tooting. We report what shows up in the public record, the planning applications the council advertises ward by ward, the decisions taken at the Town Hall, police crime figures and the businesses opening and closing across SW11, SW12, SW15, SW17 and SW18. We also keep the everyday information you look up more than once accurate and in one place, checked against the source and dated.

What you will find here

  • House prices: what homes actually sold for, ward by ward, from HM Land Registry.
  • Trains to London: every station’s zone, fastest journey and fare.
  • Roadworks and travel: the bridges, the closures and how long each one runs.
  • Things to do: what a day out costs, prices checked against each operator.
  • Planning: the borough’s housing rules and how to look up an application.

How we work

Every fact here comes from a named public source: Wandsworth Council’s own registers and announcements, the weekly planning lists, open crime data from the police, HM Land Registry sold prices and the Food Standards Agency’s hygiene register. We link to that source on every story so you can check it yourself, and we say when we last updated a figure. One local caution we apply to our own reporting: Clapham Junction sits in Battersea and is ours, but Clapham High Street, Clapham North and the south side of Clapham Common are in Lambeth, and Wandsworth Road is in Lambeth too. If we get something wrong, tell us and we will correct it.
