No council fireworks in Wandsworth on New Year's Eve. Londoners paid £20 to £35 for the Thames display last year, and Battersea's rink skates into 2027.

Wandsworth has no public New Year’s Eve fireworks of its own. The borough’s display is Battersea Park in November. On 31 December the choice is the Mayor of London’s ticketed display on the Thames in central London, or a night out closer to home, of which the one confirmed so far is a midnight skate at Battersea Power Station.

The Mayor’s fireworks: dates and last year’s prices

City Hall’s London New Year’s Eve 2026 page gives the event as Thursday 31 December 2026 from 8pm to 12.30am on Friday 1 January 2027, and says only that “a date for the ticket release will be announced soon”. You can register there to be told when.

The 2025 event page shows how it worked last time. Every ticket was sold through Ticketmaster, the event sold out, and nobody without a ticket was let into the viewing areas.

Every Wandsworth postcode is a London postcode, so residents got the £20 discount. The postcode is checked against the billing address of the card, and City Hall warned that tickets with a mismatched address could be cancelled and proof of address could be asked for on the night. Other rules from last year: up to four tickets per buyer, the lead buyer may need photo ID, no refunds, and resale only at face value through Ticketmaster’s own resale platform, which opened on 8 December.

City Hall strongly advised against bringing young children. Under-16s had to be with an adult.

The Orange area was the accessible viewing area, on the Albert Embankment in front of St Thomas’ Hospital, with a side view of the fireworks, some seating, a hearing loop and accessible toilets. Last year’s page advised using its vehicle drop-off, about 700m away, before 8pm, when road closures start.

Last year Westminster, Golden Jubilee, Lambeth, Blackfriars and Waterloo bridges were closed to people before and after the event, and vehicles were kept out of the event area from 2pm on 31 December until about 6am on New Year’s Day.

New Year’s Eve in Wandsworth itself

Glide at Battersea Power Station. The rink’s festive opening hours list an additional “New Year’s Skate” from 11pm to 12.15am on 31 December, and a last session at 8pm on New Year’s Day. The season runs from 6 November 2026 to 3 January 2027; ticket rules are on our ice rink page.

The Chimney Lift at the power station closes early on New Year’s Eve: its opening hours page gives 10am to 4.30pm on 31 December, with the last ascent at 4.30pm. Hours for 2027 have not been published.

Getting there and back

TfL has not published its 2026 plans. Its release of 2 December 2025 said services would run all night on New Year’s Eve apart from planned closures, that some central stations might close at short notice to prevent overcrowding, and that people without a fireworks ticket should not travel to the area around the Victoria Embankment.
